Exhibition industry ''must unite''

Following a tough period of trading, industry expert Duncan Reid, portfolio director of Confex Group, has called for market participants to stand together in order to weather the global economic downturn.
He suggested the next 18 months are likely to be hard for the sector to unite until the "green shoots of recovery" are seen.
"If we are going to capitalise on the opportunities ahead, the party and hospitality sector need to work more closely with the conference and exhibition markets," Mr Reid added.
He noted the need to provide excellent service, suggesting that this year''s Confex exhibition, which saw a wide array of
exhibition stands come together under one roof, was a success as it capitalised on buyers looking at several events.
The next edition of Confex is due to take place between February 23rd and 25th 2010. It will be held at the Earls Court venue, which is located in London''s Docklands.
