Sanofi-Aventis announced dividend rise

Pharmaceutical firm Sanofi-Aventis has announced an increase in dividend payouts for its shareholders.
The 6.3 per cent per share year-on-year rise was announced on Friday (April 17th) following the company''s general meeting, at which its financial statements for the year ending December 31st 2008 were approved.
Following the conference at the Palais des Congres in Paris, stakeholders will receive a dividend of 2.20 (£1.90) per share, payable on April 28th.
The Paris-based firm has been busy of late, announcing two acquisitions over the past few days.
It agreed a merger with privately-owned US biopharmaceutical company BiPar Sciences, which is expected to go through within the next two months.
Furthermore, the business revealed it is to acquire Brazilian firm Medley - the third largest business of its kind in the Latin American country.
The transaction - which values Medley at 500 million (£445 million) - is expected to be completed by June.
