Slow Food London to make its way to the Southbank
30 Apr 2009
Exhibition stands and gastronomic delights may be being prepared for a culinary event that goes under the moniker Slow Food London.
Slow Food London takes place over four days and celebrates the best in food at the Southbank Centre at the beginning of May.
At the exhibition, organisers say scrumptious food will be on offer, along with homemade artisan grub such as rare cooked meats, fresh mezze, cakes, pancakes and baklava.
Demonstrations, workshops and sampling sessions will all take place in the events tent - and there will be a collection of the best of the season''s produce.
All in all, around 40 stands will be present at the occasion.
According to View London, everything on sale at the event is produced in a safe way that does not harm the environment.
"Sustainably produced, good for animal welfare and our health and fair trade, the Slow Food way is not just about eating right, it is about eating ethically and caring for our world, as well as maintaining the planet," it adds.
Slow Food London will take place between May 1st and 4th.
The Southbank Centre can be found on Belvedere Road on the Thames riverside, nestled between Golden Jubilee and Waterloo Bridges.
Representatives of the centre say it attracts the most diverse audience of any UK venue. It consists of the Royal Festival Hall, the Hayward Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Saison Poetry Library.
