BT Convention Centre wins conference centre award

The BT Convention Centre is celebrating its success after winning a silver award in the Best UK Conference Centre category at the Meeting & Incentive Travel awards.

Jacquie Rogers, general manager of the facility, which is part of the Area and Convention Centre Liverpool, said the success was a "remarkable achievement", especially given the fact it is still in its first year of operation.

She added it is a signal the venue is considered to be elite when it comes to hosting conferences and trade shows, providing a space for firms to show off their wares on exhibition stands.

"We were up against some exceptional venues, some of which have been operating for 30 years and to finish second reflects our ability to deliver a quality service in an excellent environment," Ms Rogers concluded.

The BT Convention Centre came second to the Glasgow-based Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, which has three onsite hotels and a railway station.
