20 Feb 2009
Now that the
exhibition stands have been packed away and the delegates have left, the success of the GSMA Mobile World Congress has been noted by its organisers.
More than 47,000 guests from 189 countries went to the four-day event, which attracted leading talent from software companies, equipment providers, mobile operators and entertainment organisations.
Some 50 per cent of attendees held C-level positions, while more than 2,800 chief executive officers were present.
John Hoffman, chief executive officer of GSMC, said all involved were "extremely" happy with the turnout for the event.
"The strong level of attendance, particularly among the C-suite of the world''s leading communications companies, demonstrates that Mobile World Congress continues to be the place where the industry comes to do business," he added.
More than 57,000 sq m of
exhibition and hospitality space were occupied during the showcase, which featured a keynote speech by Kevin Spacey.
Applications are now open for the 2010 edition of the event.
