24 Feb 2009
A conference has been announced to address issues related to local government pensions.
The National Association of Pension Funds''s (NAPF''s)
exhibition stands will welcome both members and non-members to the event, which is to take place from May 18th to the 20th.
Keynote speaker will be local government minister Rt Hon John Healey, with others including Peter Scales from the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.
Guest speaker will be Rt Hon Charles Kennedy and also in attendance will be Bill Galvin, who is executive director for strategic development at the Pensions Regulator.
Issues on the agenda take into account some of the most recent investment strategies, as well as the implication on local authorities of the economic downturn.
"Against a background of recession and market turmoil, increasing liabilities, falling consumer confidence and intensifying political focus, 2009 will be another challenging year," a NAPF statement said.
The Belfry in Warwickshire will be the setting for the conference.
