10 Feb 2009
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) has named a total of three new honorary members.
Certificates of recognition have been presented to the trio due to their service to both the society and the profession.
Steve Churton, president of the RPSGB made the awards at the society''s office in London on February 3rd.
Lady Penelope Moore, Lord Fraser of Carmyllie and Nigerian high commissioner, his excellency Dr Dalhatu Tafida - on behalf of Professor Dora Nkem Akunyii - all received the awards.
The latter was unable to attend due to ministerial commitments in Nigeria. She achieved global recognition for her battle against counterfeit medicines.
Lady Moore, who serves as a justice of the peace, made a nine-year contribution to the professional discipline of pharmacists.
Finally, Lord Fraser served as the RPSGB''s statutory committee between 2000 and 2007.
In recent days, the society agreed professional standards for the guidance for continuing professional development - and the manner in which non-compliance with these guidelines is handled.
