Roche reinstated as ABPI member
17 Feb 2009
Roche has been reinstated as a member of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), it has been announced.
The company was suspended from the body on July 14th 2008 after it was found to have breached its code of practice.
Within the breach, Clause 2 of the guidelines was found to have been broken.
The section deals with activities which can reduce confidence in the sector, or bring discredit upon it.
In a statement, the body said: "The ABPI Board of Management decided that Roche should be reinstated to membership with effect from February 16th."
The association board is to review the report of a further audit which is due to be held in November to make certain progress is being maintained.
Earlier this month, the ABPI welcomed a report by the Royal College of Physicians which examines the relationships between doctors, academics, patients and the pharmaceutical sector.
