Salma Hayek works with Procter & Gamble
09 Feb 2009
Actress Salma Hayek and Pampers have announced the continued success of the One Pack = One Vaccine campaign, which was launched to benefit the aid organisation Unicef as it battles maternal and neonatal tetanus.
Speaking at a press conference in recent days, the actress - whose film credits include Dogma, Once Upon A Time In Mexico and Beverly Hills Chihuahua - explained she travelled to Sierra Leone as part of the scheme.
"I was faced with the devastation of tetanus. Witnessing the death of a newborn was unbearable. No mother should have to endure the loss of a child. No one should die of tetanus when prevention is so easy," she added.
Jodi Allen, North American vice-president and general manager for Pampers, a Procter & Gamble trademark, said many of the firm''s employees have embraced and contributed to the scheme, which is "truly" making a difference to the lives of mothers and children.
