Travelling exhibition offers information to deaf children

13 Feb 2009

A travelling exhibition has been allowing deaf children and young people experience new products which could help their everyday lives.

The National Deaf Children''s Society''s (NDCS) Listening Bus has visited London and Anglia already this year and is set to take its display across the UK throughout 2009.

Visitors are able to see an exhibition stand featuring products such as video and text phones, vibrating alarm clocks and flashing doorbells.

Susan Daniels, chief executive of the NDCS, emphasised the importance of technology to deaf children.

"Having grown up deaf myself, I know only too well how important it is to receive the right information and equipment, which can both educate and liberate," she commented.

The Listening Bus also has a quiet room where parents and NDCS staff can talk and a toy area for younger visitors.

It will be in Anglia until Sunday February 15th before moving on to the West Midlands on Tuesday.
