UK "important" in Sanofi-Aventis global transformation scheme

The UK is set to play a key role in Sanofi-Aventis'' worldwide transformation scheme, it has been asserted.
Hanspeter Spek, executive vice-president of the pharmaceutical company, made his comments as the firm named Steve Oldfield as its new general manager for the UK.
Mr Spek said: "The UK will play an important role in the sanofi-aventis global transformation programme ... Steve is ideally placed to drive the transformation of sanofi-aventis in the UK to support our vision of becoming a global healthcare leader."
Set to assume his new position in June, Mr Oldfield has been with Sanofi-Aventis in the UK since 1994.
He graduated from Sheffield University with a degree in modern languages and can speak five languages - English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.
