XenoTech acquires Waters Synapt HDMS System
18 Feb 2009
Xenotech has announced the acquisition of the Waters Synapt High Definition Mass Spectrometry (HDMS) System.
Used for in vitro metabolic profiling, the device aids companies'' investigations of drug candidates.
The product also includes a Waters Acquity UltraPerformance Liquid Chromatograph.
Andrew Parkinson, chief executive officer of XenoTech, said the organisation had "built a high degree of quality" into both its in vitro services and its products.
He added: "The Waters Synapt HDMS System was a perfect fit for both our scientific expectations and our operational requirements."
Mr Parkinson went on to note the current economic climate means customers need to collect more data on developmental drugs - however, they have reduced staff numbers and limited budgets.
In other news, Waters has confirmed the purchase of Thar Instruments'' remaining capital stock.
Initiated in June 2007 through an equity investment, the acquisition is not expected to affect the former''s 2009 earnings.
Thar Instruments'' yearly revenues are around $18 million (12.6 million pounds).
