30 Jan 2009
Lord Mandelson, the business secretary, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at the Cumbria Economic Summit 2009.
Due to take place on February 20th, the event will see around 250 invited delegates from both the public and private sectors.
The event is being organised by the Northwest Regional Development Agency and Cumbria Vision in order to show off progress made over the past year and also highlight plans to turn the region into one of the UK''s fastest-growing economies.
According to the organisers, the showcase will also provide the chance to learn more about the issues likely to be addressed in the Regional Strategy.
The strategy is: "The region''s first single integrated strategy which will bring together spatial, economic, social and environmental strategies to build a new long-term vision for the prosperity of the north-west region."
Last years'' summit saw many regional firms set up
exhibition stands and take part in the event, while Sally Gunnell was among the speakers.
