The National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham has announced that it has been selected as the venue for the Dairy Event and Livestock Show in 2010.

Exhibition stands at the event will provide farmers with the opportunity to access "comprehensive technical, business and financial information" covering the whole of the ruminant industry.

The show is the first of its kind at the facility and is organised by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF), having previously been held at Stoneleigh Park in Coventry.

One hall will be used to showcase livestock and NEC managing director Kathryn James stated that she was "extremely pleased" that the venue had been selected as the host.

"As well as being the largest and most accessible exhibition and events venue in the UK, the NEC is also the most flexible and we are now looking forward to meeting the unique requirements of this event," Ms James added.

According to RABDF chief executive Nick Everington, visitor numbers to the Dairy Event and Livestock Show have risen by 60 per cent since 2003 and a larger space was needed to provide the facilities required to meet growing demand, including improved road, rail and air access.

He explained that bringing exhibitors "under one roof" will enable farmers to find them more easily, while efficiency will be improved for exhibition designers.
