"Fantastic" Yorkshire Fashion Week receives praise - Clip Ltd

01 Jul 2009

The events that made up Yorkshire Fashion Week, which saw exhibition stands dedicated to contemporary and classic couture, has been deemed a great success by its organisers and visitors.

Commenting on the affair, John Warburton, project director of the showcase, explained that Christopher Bailey, creative director of Burberry, was one of the VIP guests at the event and that he had given "fantastic" feedback about the showcase to the media.

Mr Warburton said that it is "tremendous" to receive praise of the calibre offered by Mr Bailey, especially when an event is still establishing itself within the sector.

He explained that the organisers are now speaking to local colleges and universities about collaborative projects in the future and that they have been "incredibly enthusiastic" about the next edition of the symposium.

Mr Warburton explained that there is a "great enthusiasm" among the parties that were involved in the event in terms of making it an annual showcase.

"Obviously we need to talk to everybody else who is involved; Yorkshire Forward, Welcome to Yorkshire and Kirklees council to see how exactly we do that. But [...] I''m sure there will be a Yorkshire Fashion Week 2010," he said.

A wide array of figures from the world of fashion and the Yorkshire region were present at the symposiums that made up Yorkshire Fashion Week.

These included retailer and fashion designer Rita Britton and Rosie Winterton, minister for Yorkshire and the Humber, while a collection from designer Betty Jackson was widely regarded as one of the major highlights of the event.
