07 Jul 2009
Those starting a career in design will be showing their work to top design companies at an exhibition in London this month.
The 2009 New Designers event will be held at the Business Design Centre, with
exhibition stands dedicated to the creations of emerging talent.
Graduates will showcase objects in a bid to improve their profiles and secure jobs with some of the leading UK companies in the field.
The organisers stated: "50 highly individual and remarkably talented design entrepreneurs get their chance to showcase their original, contemporary and directional design collections at New Designers 2009."
The first part of the event will take place between July 9th and 12th and will focus on textiles, jewellery and precious metalwork, contemporary applied arts, accessories, fashion glass and ceramics.
Meanwhile, the second installment of the exhibition is concerned with graphic design, furniture, visual communications, spatial design and products and is scheduled to run from July 16th to 19th.
More than 18,000 people traditionally visit the show, which features two awards evenings and acknowledges the work of entrepreneurs who are one year on from graduation.
The event, which has been running for 24 years, has launched the careers of designers such as Ella Doran, Thomas Heatherwick and Barber Osgerby.
Opened in 1986 in the former Royal Agricultural Hall, the Business Design Centre on Upper Street, Islington is an integrated trade, exhibition and conference complex that hosts more than 80 exhibitions and 250 conferences annually and is home to over 100 businesses, attracting around half a million visitors a year.
