Boule to Braid at the Lisson Gallery - Clip Ltd
23 Jun 2009
Exhibition stands holding pieces from one of Britain''s most important art dealers'' collections are due to be set up in London''s Lisson Gallery tomorrow.
Curated by Richard Wentworth, a figure who has shown off his work at the venue for around 30 years, the showcase is dedicated to the private collection of Nicholas Logsdail, the founder of Lisson and nephew of noted children''s author Roald Dahl.
Entitled Boule to Braid, the exhibition will see more than 50 artists - including Yoko Ono, Donald Judd, Carl Andre and Sol Lewitt - represented by over 100 works in different media, the Telegraph notes.
Mr Wentworth has selected the pieces that make up the show from Mr Logsdail''s personal archive, as well as from the gallery stock that has been accumulated since the 1960s.
Commenting on the move, he said "As exhibitionism in private galleries, foundations and museums - both personal and public - have coalesced, I detect a pattern of exhibition making which I associate with the philately of my childhood. I hope to chastise this tendency in the way that Boule to Braid comes together".
In conjunction with the opening of the exhibition, Mr Wentworth will be discussing his own work and the mounting of Boule to Braid at the Royal Academy''s Geological Society Lecture Room on Wednesday June 24th between 18:30 and 19:30 BST.
Mr Wentworth''s exhibition is due to hold residency at the Lisson Gallery, which is situated on Bell Street, near Lisson Grove in Marylebone, between June 24th and August 15th.
