Monitor IT service providers, firms urged - Clip Ltd

Firms that outsource their IT services to third parties should monitor the activities of such firms in order to ensure they are getting the best deal possible, it has been suggested.
Claudio Da Rold, vice president and analyst at Gartner, made his comments among the
exhibition stands at the research organisation''s Outsourcing & IT Services Summit 2009, which is currently taking place in London.
He explained that both this year and 2010 will be "critical" for the IT services and outsourcing market due to the ongoing effects of the global economic downturn, adding that firms are placing increased focus on enhancing their flexibility and performance.
Mr Da Rold said: "We predicted in the first quarter of 2009 that the global IT services market will decline 1.7 per cent in 2009, and we are reviewing this forecast with an even more cautionary orientation."
The Royal Lancaster Hotel is playing host to the exhibition, which concludes today.
