BD ''a top corporate citizen''

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) has been named in the annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens List in Corporate Responsibility Officer Magazine for this year.

The pharmaceutical company explains the list methodology is based solely on publicly-available data and places a focus on firms with high levels of transparency and public disclosure.

It states the ranking has gained national recognition as an indicator of best practice in the corporate social responsibility sector.

BD chairman and chief executive officer Edward J Ludwig declares the company takes its duty to be a good corporate citizen "seriously".

He adds: "At BD, we pursue our corporate purpose of helping all people live healthy lives while balancing the triple bottom line of strong economic performance, environmental stewardship and social responsibility."

In recent weeks, the firm was listed on the US Environmental Protection Agency''s Fortune 500 list of green power purchasers. Its purchase ranks 23rd among participating corporations.
