BD joins Safe Injection Practices Coalition
16 Mar 2009
BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) has joined the Safe Injection Practices Coalition, a body formed in 2008 to address the lack of comprehension and adherence to basic needle practices in non-hospital environments.
Comprised of foundations, provider associations, patient advocacy organisations and industry partners, the coalition has launched a national pilot health awareness and education scheme aimed at both members of the public and healthcare providers.
The strategy hopes to promote safe injection practices in a range of conditions, especially outpatient settings.
Other members of the alliance include the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, the Ambulatory Surgery Foundation, Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, HONOReform Foundation and CDC Foundation.
In recent days, BD was listed in the annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens List - one of the most recognised Corporate Responsibility rankings of Russell 1000 companies - by CRO Magazine for 2009. It was first published in 2000 by Business Ethics Magazine.
