BT Convention Centre wins awards at Confex exhibition

The BT Convention in Liverpool has been named Best UK Venue at the International Confex exhibition, it has been announced.

The facility, which is part of the Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) Liverpool, also won the award for Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative for its sustainable conferencing incentives.

Bob Prattey, chief executive at ACC Liverpool, said the judge''s decision was a "huge accolade" for the venue.

"To be named Best UK Venue for the second successive year is a great achievement for the Convention Centre team. To be rewarded for our CSR initiatives is a huge compliment and demonstrates how we value our impact on both the environment and local community," he added.

Warren Bradley, leader of Liverpool city council, said the facility, which is due to play host to the Liberal Democrats'' party political conference in 2010, has made a huge contribution to the economy of the city, making it one of Europe''s key conference locations.
