Biogen Idec "transformed" over last 3 years

26 Mar 2009

Biogen Idec has radically altered its pipeline over the past three years, it has been asserted.

Dr Cecil Pickett, president of research and development at the company, made his comments as the company provided an update on its products for the investment community.

"We have transformed the pipeline over the past three years. With 20 programmes in phase II and beyond, our pipeline rivals those of companies much larger than us and positions the Company for strong growth," he added.

The pharmaceutical company is pioneering some of the most "exciting" science in the industry, such as its neublastin programmes into central nervous system repair, Dr Pickett continued.

He concluded by noting the firm''s research on the Tweak pathway could have applications for autoimmune disorders.

Earlier this month, Dr Pickett announced his intention to retire from his position after a suitable successor is found.ADNFCR-2086-ID-19094274-ADNFCR
