Grifols gains control over Swiss and Australian group
03 Mar 2009
A 25 million (£22.42 million) transaction has seen Grifols gain full control of a Swiss and Australian group.
The firm notes this acquisition will provide it with the commercial strength it requires to both expand and reaffirm its presence in the Australian pharmaceutical and diagnostics sector, as well as in New Zealand.
Additionally, the transaction allows the company to explore a range of possibilities which it states do not exclude further industrial investments making use of Grifols Engineering technology.
Ramon Riera, commercial vice-president of the firm, states: "This move also demonstrates Grifols'' commitments to its diagnostic division. Our Barcelona plant has just increased threefold its production capacity of DG Gel cards for immunohaematology."
The firm is focusing on expanding its market share in a range of Latin American countries, as well as China, he adds.
In recent days, Grifols announced that applications are now being accepted for the 2009 Martin Villar Haemostasis Awards.
