Lilly HR senior vice-president to retire
05 Mar 2009
Dr Anthony Murphy will retire from his position of senior vice-president of human resources at international pharmaceutical company Lilly later this year, it has been announced.
Having started working at the firm in 1980 as a personnel representative, Dr Murphy has held a number of prominent roles with the business.
He took on his current position in June 2005, having previously been executive director of HR for Europe, Japan and the intercontinental region.
Dr John Lechleiter, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Lilly, said Dr Murphy has played a "key leadership role" in the development of the company during his 28-year career with the firm.
"I will miss his wisdom and friendship in our daily interactions - and I want to sincerely thank him for his loyalty and intense dedication to Lilly," he added.
Dr Murphy will retire in April and his successor will be named at a later date.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Alex Azar II will assume the position of Lilly vice-president of business-to-business and Puerto Rico at the start of April.
