Pfizer names new oncology unit regional president

Elizabeth Barrett has been named as the US regional president of Pfizer''s oncology business unit.
The industry expert, who most recently held the position of vice-president and general manager of Cephalon''s oncology business unit, has more than 25 years of management expertise.
She will lead marketing, field operations and sales strategies in her new role, which follows a stint managing the cancer therapeutics business at Johnson & Johnson.
Garry Nicholson, president and general manager of Pfizer''s oncology business unit, explains Ms Barrett''s expertise will be directly applicable to the opportunities and challenges the firm faces.
"It is important that we have the right leaders in place to ensure that we can deliver superior total value not only internally within the company, but to the physicians and patients that we serve," he adds.
Earlier this year, Pfizer announced plans to acquire Wyeth in a move which the former states will create one of the most diversified companies in the healthcare sector.
