Pharmacists ''can provide support to help smokers quit''
04 Mar 2009
Pharmacists can help smokers who are eager to kick their habit and give up cigarettes, it has been asserted.
Lindsey Gilpin is a spokesperson for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) and makes her comments in advance of No Smoking Day, which takes place on Wednesday March 11th.
She states smokers need to be given the appropriate support in order to quit their addiction.
The theme of the 2009 campaign is Take The First Step and aims to remind people there are many stages to giving up, from cutting down over the short term or quitting altogether.
Ms Gilpin adds: "Stopping smoking requires commitment, planning and motivation and pharmacists are ideally placed to offer advice, guidance and information about the support available."
In other news, a RPSGB pharmaceutical exhibition aimed at shaping the future of electronic medicine management is set to take place on Thursday March 5th and will provide a chance for delegates to assess the use of technology in the sector.
