23 Mar 2009
The product licence for a LH-RH agonist used to treat prostate cancer, endometriosis and uterine fibroids is to revert back to Takeda from Wyeth.
Marketing authorisation for the Prostrap (leuprorelin acetate) range in the UK and Republic of Ireland has been held by Wyeth since 1990, but from July 1st this year it will be controlled by Takeda.
The company''s managing director for UK operations Trevor Smith said this addition will enrich its portfolio and help to develop its emerging franchise in the oncology field.
Other products currently marketed by the group include Bronica (seratrodast) and Solfa (amlexanox), which are used for the treatment of bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis respectively.
Takeda is headquartered in Osaka, Japan, but has subsidiaries and affiliates across the globe, in locations such as the UK, Italy, Ireland, China, Singapore and Austria.
Its net sales for the year ending March 2008 totalled 1,375 billion yen (£9.76 billion).
