Roche purchases Innovatis
16 Mar 2009
Roche is set to purchase automated cell analysis solution company Innovatis for a total of 15 million (£13.77 million), it has announced.
The former explains the latter focuses on cell counting and function analysis in research.
Dr Jurgen Schwiezer, chief executive officer of the Diagnostics Division of Roche, explains the transaction is another step in the company''s long-term goal of strengthening its position as a "complete solutions provider" in the cell analysis and research sector.
Michal Grohmann, managing director of Innovatis, added the company''s technology is "very well-placed" for future development as part of Roche Applied Science.
"Innovatis'' technology will complement the existing Roche cell analysis portfolio and is synergistic to the xcelligence technology launched in 2008," added Dr Schwiezer.
As a fully-integrated portion of Roche Applied Science, the firm will continue to develop and market products for cell analysis via the company''s worldwide network.
In recent days, Roche reached a friendly agreement with Genentech to combine the two organisations.
