Sanofi-aventis announces new CFO

Jerome Contamine has been named as the new executive vice-president and chief financial officer CFO of Sanofi-aventis.
Having previously held the role of senior executive vice-president, deputy general manager and CFO of Veolia Environment, Mr Contamine will take up his position on March 16th.
Chris Viehbacher, chief executive officer of the firm, said he is "extremely pleased" with the appointment of the Ecole Polytechnique graduate, who he said will bring a "very high" level of expertise to the group.
"Jerome will be deeply involved in the simplification of our operational structures to adapt our group to future challenges. I am confident that Jerome will play a valuable role in transforming Sanofi-aventis into a global healthcare leader," he added.
In other organisational news, Steve Oldfield was announced as the new general manager of Sanofi-aventis UK in recent days. He will take on his new position from June 2009, having worked for the company since 1994.
