Firms ''looking for social networking revenue streams''
06 May 2009
Many firms are looking into methods of generating revenue from social networking sites, it has been noted.
James Drake-Brockman, show director of the Internet World event, which saw a range of
exhibition displays set up at the Earls Court 2 venue in London in April, said people are "racking their brains" to find ways of obtaining income from the resources.
He said: "That''s one of the big question marks that are out there. ''What is the revenue bubble for these things?'' and ''Where can people make money?''"
Mr Drake-Brockman suggested that both contextual and behavioural advertising models are being explored by experts within the sector to determine whether or not they are viable methods of generating income.
Internet World saw a discussion panel on the social networking site Twitter take place, while potential applications of a range of other web-based resources such as Facebook LinkedIn and MySpace were also debated.
