Redevelopment work on the LG Arena at the NEC in Birmingham - a site that regularly plays host to
exhibition stands and
shell schemes - has moved on to the next stage of construction, it has been announced.
After a performance by legendary Australian rockers AC/DC in April, work on the venue has begun in earnest, with new toilets, backstage and catering facilities being prepared.
Meanwhile, additional seating is being created, which will result in the facility''s sit-down capacity being increased to 14,000.
Phil Mead, managing director of arenas at the NEC Group, said that it was "exciting" to witness the LG Arena brand sign be attached to the venue''s tower and see the construction team move on to the next phase of development.
"This is our second major milestone in the project and we''re on time for the launch in October," he added.
Earlier this month, the NEC installed a new waste pre-treatment centre, after investment totalling £330,000 was poured into the project.
